Forestdale and For One in New York recently held a warm and successful reception featuring program participants from the joint initiative, Culture For One. Hosted in the home of Linn Tanzman, the program’s founder and director, the Culture For One event served to raise awareness about the cultural needs of children in foster care at Forestdale.

Forestdale is excited to celebrate our annual benefit with special guests from JetBlue and the Honorable Peter V. Vallone, former New York City Council Speaker.

Guests will enjoy an open bar, hors d’oeuvres, a silent auction and a gallery showcasing the talent of Forestdale artists. The benefit will include a spectrum of Forestdale supporters, from politicians to academics to community leaders and entrepreneurs. There will be a vocal performance by Broadway Actress Maura Kelley, the cast of the hit show Doggie Moms, Cherie Martorana from Rubix Kube, and more celebrity guests and performances.

Forestdale youth, staff and Culture For One chaperones delighted in a recent outing to the Michael Jackson THE IMMORTAL World Tour by Cirque du Soleil. As described by Forestdale youth – it was “Awesome!”.

Forestdale, Inc. recently celebrated the first ‘Stepping Up’ ceremony of 2012. The ceremony brings together families, staff and community supporters to witness the renewed commitment of men who have completed the Fathering Initiative program. Special guest speakers included Council Member Jared Rice (D-3, New Rochelle) and Cathleen Williams, Esq., author of Single Mother The New Father, and CEO and Executive Producer of the cable talk show “I’m Just Saying.”

Forestdale counts on the support of many volunteers to deliver quality services to children and families. One of our key community partners is St. John’s University, which sends volunteers to Forestdale as part of an undergraduate service learning program. Earlier this year, Forestdale launched a specialized volunteer program for Visit Hosts, who facilitate supervised visitation between foster children and their birth parents.
